Run Ming Appeared at the ALB Hong Kong Business Law Asia & In-house Summit 2009


 

The Hong Kong 2009 Business Law Asia & In-house Summit, sponsored by Asian Legal Business, was held on June 23 & 24, 2009 at the Conrad hotel, Hong Kong.  Run Ming Law Office is the only Chinese law firm being invited to give speech on this summit.  Run Ming’s partners, Wang Yadong, Liu Yi, Charles Liang, Kathy Yang, and Philips Ding participated in the summit.

Wang Yadong, Charles Liang, and Kathy Yang spoke on the topic “Litigation Arising from Debt Default” on the summit.  The topic consists of three parts: (i) overview of debt collection options in China; (ii) interim remedies in debt litigation in China; and (iii) enforcement of foreign arbitration awards and judgments in China.  The in-house counsels present at the summit showed great interest.  After the speech, Run Ming’s partners answered the questions raised by the in-house counsels.

In addition, Liu Yi participated in the panel discussion on Managing Partner’s Forum, topic of which focused on “GFC Response Initiatives and Legal Innovation”.  Managing partners from both international law firms and Hong Kong local law firm had a hot discussion on the measures a law firm may take to deal with the current financial crisis, which include how strengthening the internal management of the law firm, how cooperating with law firms in other jurisdictions, how adjusting the existing billing policies, etc.
